INTRODUCE
Silicon slag is a white solid substance separated by desiliconization operation, which is called silicon slag. Because it contains alumina and alkali, it is generally returned to the raw material preparation for mixing.
Silicon slag is a water-containing mixture obtained by alkali fusion, acid leaching and water dissolution of zircon sand. It is a colloidal polymer with a high water content. It has a light yellow-green appearance, is spongy, has strong adsorption and a complex structure.
The main components are silicic acid and water. After water leaching, it is acidic, with a pH <1 and a solid content of about 20%. Due to the chemical reactions that occur during the production process, there are also metasilicic acid and silicate products such as orthosilicic acid, di-metasilicic acid and tri-orthosilicic acid in the silicon slag, as well as sodium silicate, unreacted zircon sand and zirconium oxychloride, and its structure is still unclear. Affected by the intermittent alkali fusion operation and the different particle size composition of zircon sand and the different decomposition rate of zircon sand, the content of ZrO2 and Si fluctuates greatly.
